Laing O'Rourke are looking for a Sustainable Procurement Manager to lead the integration of sustainability across high-value procurement activities. You will ensure sustainability requirements are embedded from sourcing strategy through to contract award, supplier performance, and assurance. Working alongside Procurement Managers, you will combine commercial expertise with sustainability leadership to manage risk, drive value, and meet growing client and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Sustainable Procurement Delivery
- Embed sustainability requirements across tendering, evaluation, and supplier management.
- Define minimum standards for critical procurement activity.
- Identify and resolve sustainability-related risks impacting delivery or compliance.
- Procurement Enablement & Governance
- Coach and influence procurement teams to build capability.
- Act as the key interface between Sustainability and Procurement.
- Support governance, ensuring policy translates into effective delivery.
- Supplier Engagement & Responsible Sourcing
- Lead supplier engagement on environmental, social, and ethical standards.
- Drive adoption of Responsible Sourcing Protocols.
- Ensure high-quality, audit-ready supplier evidence.
- Performance & Assurance
- Monitor KPIs and oversee sustainable procurement performance.
- Provide insights to support strategy, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, or commercial roles.
- Proven ability to embed requirements into live procurement and contracts.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable procurement (aligned with ISO 20400).
- Skilled at influencing stakeholders in complex environments.
Qualifications
- MCIPS (or working towards) or equivalent.
- Sustainability qualification (e.g. IEMA) or relevant experience.
