Laing O'Rourke are looking for a Senior Sustainability Advisor to support our Specialist Trading Business Group (STBG) businesses. All of our STBG's are committed to delivering measurable sustainability outcomes aligned with Laing O'Rourke's Science-Based Targets initiative and wider sustainability objectives. These commitments span environmental performance, compliance, low-carbon innovation, and social value deliveryâkey to maintaining our licence to operate and competitive edge across both external and internal projects.
The Senior Sustainability Advisor plays a critical, handsâon role in driving sustainability performance and ensuring environmental compliance across STBG businesses, including Vetter, Select, and CHT. This role focuses on turning strategic commitments into consistent, measurable, and auditable actions across projects and fixed facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Sustainability Strategy Delivery
- Monitor, track, and report progress against agreed sustainability KPIs.
- Review data, identify trends and turn outputs into actions.
- Provide sustainability and environmental support across Select, Crown House Technologies, and Vetter projects.
- Manage client and monthly reporting requirements including BREEAM assessments where applicable.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems across depots and facilities.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and ensure timely closeâout of corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain Social Value Plans for fixed facilities.
- Track progress and maintain robust, auditable evidence of delivery.
- Lead the collection and validation of annual sustainability data.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency across key metrics, including energy, carbon, waste, and social value.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of environmental compliance frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
- Experience with sustainability reporting, data analysis, and KPI tracking.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver across a diverse project portfolio.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a focus on audit-ready outputs.
- Degree level qualified to ensure sufficient technical knowledge.
- Preferable auditing experience.
- Be willing to travel.
- Professional membership/chartership is desirable.
