Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C! The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner to join the Main Civil Works team. The Senior Planner (Main Civils) role is to work with the Senior Planning Manager for the Nuclear Island and the MCW wider team, and take the lead in developing, managing, coordinating and monitoring the project programme for a selection of building structures that fall within the Nuclear Island of the proposed power plant.
CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update Nuclear Island detailed, short-term and project programmes in accordance with the Project Requirements.
- Develop and agree by collaboration a logical sequence and methodology ensuring that the most beneficial construction strategy is adopted.
- Analyse performance and advise the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
- Defining resource requirements.
- Coordinate with internal customers – supply chain, engineering, design, commercial, construction on time related matters.
- Analyse critical path, progress, KPIs, trends, and risks, recommending corrective and mitigation actions.
- Manage and assess change, including schedule impact analysis and support to commercial evaluations.
- Liaise with site teams and supply chain to validate progress, forecasts, and future work sequencing.
- Review, challenge, and align subcontractor and medium‑term programmes with the Portion and master schedule.
- Manage resource loading and levelling to optimise labour, plant, and materials while minimising risk and delay.
- Support BIM coordination, mentor planning team members, and ensure environmental constraints are reflected in the programme.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Documented experience at Planner or Senior Planner level on large infrastructure projects.
- Primavera P6 planning software experience.
- Experienced in the development and management of Construction Programmes in a civil engineering environment, preferably on large scale infrastructure civil projects.
- Some experience in the planning of reinforced concrete works.
Qualifications
- Degree in civil or structural engineering.
- Professionally qualified or actively working towards professional qualification CIOB/MICE Membership (Desirable).
- 4D Synchro Modelling (Desirable).
