As an Advanced Scaffolder, you will be accountable for the erection, alteration, and dismantling of complex scaffolding structures across construction sites. The role demands a high level of technical expertise, ensuring scaffolding systems are safe, compliant, and meet the specific requirements of the project. You will fulfil a critical function in maintaining safe access solutions, facilitating site operations, and upholding Laing O'Rourke's stringent standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Scaffolding Operations
- Erect, alter, and dismantle a comprehensive range of scaffolding structures, including complex and non-standard designs
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scaffold design plans
- Ensure scaffolding systems are fit for purpose and meet access and safety requirements
- Undertake inspections of scaffolding to ensure ongoing compliance and safety
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere rigorously to Laing O'Rourke's health, safety, and environmental standards
- Conduct risk assessments and follow approved method statements (RAMS)
- Ensure all scaffolding is erected in accordance with TG20 guidance and industry regulations
- Identify hazards and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks
- Inspection & Quality Assurance
- Perform regular inspections and tagging of scaffolding structures
- Identify and rectify defects or non-compliant installations
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspections and ensure all scaffolding is signed off appropriately
- Ensure exemplary standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with site managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate access requirements
- Provide guidance and mentorship to trainees or part-qualified scaffolders where required
- Contribute to a positive, safe, and collaborative working environment
- Materials & Equipment
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of scaffolding materials and equipment
- Verify deliveries and ensure materials meet required standards
- Maintain tools and equipment in optimal working condition
Essential Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience as an Advanced Scaffolder on construction or infrastructure projects
- CISRS Advanced Scaffolder certification
- Comprehensive knowledge of scaffolding systems, including tube-and-fitting and system scaffolds
- Ability to read and interpret scaffold designs and technical drawings
- Thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practice
