As Delivery Whole Life Carbon Manager, you will join our Carbon Solutions team within the Sustainability function, playing a key role in supporting projects during the construction phase. You will lead project engagement on whole life carbon, ensuring effective measurement, management, and reduction of embodied and operational emissions.
Working across multiple projects and sectors, you will manage and develop a team of specialist carbon advisors while collaborating closely with design, construction, and support teams. This role offers a strong opportunity to influence both project outcomes and wider business strategy in carbon reduction. This is a national role with regular site travel and flexible/home working options. Proximity to key offices (Dartford, Sale, Worksop, Oldbury, or St Neots) is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities- Project Delivery & Carbon Management
- Provide whole life carbon support to projects throughout construction.
- Oversee carbon measurement, management, reduction, and reporting processes.
- Ensure alignment with project requirements, contractual commitments, and carbon targets.
- Act as the key escalation point for carbon-related risks and issue resolution.
- Line manage and support the development of carbon advisors.
- Work with leadership to ensure effective resourcing across projects.
- Ensure accurate and transparent carbon reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with carbon management systems and support PAS2080 audits.
- Provide quality assurance for project data and deliverables.
- Capture and share lessons learned to improve systems and processes.
- Support the development of data systems and long-term carbon strategy.
- Contribute to carbon literacy and training initiatives across the business.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across projects and functions.
- Represent the organisation in industry forums and working groups.
- Strong passion for sustainability, carbon reduction, and climate resilience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes.
- Minimum 8 years' experience within design and/or construction environments.
- Proven experience in carbon measurement and management practices.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Commercial awareness and ability to balance programme constraints with carbon objectives.
- Ability to clearly communicate data, risks, and opportunities to a range of audiences.
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental, Commercial, or a related field (Master's preferred), or equivalent experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. Chartered Engineer or Chartered Environmentalist), or equivalent experience.
