We are delivering a major new National Grid substation near Bridgend, supporting the UK's drive to upgrade and strengthen the national energy network. This is a technically complex, high-profile project and we're looking for someone with the leadership, technical understanding, and drive to see it through from mobilisation to completion. You'll be leading a skilled team, working closely with National Grid, and playing a key role in delivering a project that keeps the lights on across the country. What You'll Do
- Lead the full lifecycle of an EHV substation project — from planning through to delivery and handover
- Act as the main point of contact for National Grid, managing relationships and ensuring seamless delivery
- Oversee project planning, budgets, schedules, and risk management
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team including engineers, commercial, and delivery staff
- Drive excellence in safety, quality, programme, and cost performance
- Lead NEC contract administration and change management
- Coordinate with key stakeholders including subcontractors, local authorities, and the community
- Champion a safety-first, solutions-driven culture across the project team
What We're Looking For
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
- Proven experience delivering EHV projects (132kV and above)
- Background working on National Grid or DNO substation schemes
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Confident in NEC contract management and commercial oversight
- Passionate about delivering technically complex, high-quality infrastructure
