What are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest in construction and the built environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and ambitious, with the potential to progress into a supervisory or management role over a five-to-ten-year period.
Role Overview
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will support experienced tradespeople with the installation of mechanical service modules that are delivered to a wide range of UK projects. These modules are then installed on site by a separate LOR team to create exciting new developments, including hospitals, schools, football stadiums, and airports.
As a Pipe Fitter, you will be part of a delivery-focused assembly team. You will be provided with steel frames of varying shapes and sizes, incorporating welded pipework produced by other areas of the business. Using modern installation methods and working from fixed designs, you will be responsible for installing pipework into these frames.
You will assemble a wide range of mechanical pipework services, from smaller fabrications to larger packaged plant rooms, while learning the principles of valve arrangements and mechanical plant. The role offers the opportunity to develop both traditional and modern pipe fitting skills, with hands-on experience in fabrication and installation techniques. Every day, you will play a key role in delivering one of our many exciting projects. The safety of our workforce is our primary focus at CHtM.

Laing O'Rourke collaborate with trusted and approved training providers for our apprenticeship delivery. Successful candidates will be enrolled by Laing O'Rourke during the onboarding stage.

- A minimum of grade 4 in both English and Maths.

The Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 2 and/or 3 apprenticeship standards in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of trade technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship.
