The Opportunity Laing O'Rourke are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in central London. We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework that will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.
What will the role look like?
- Managing all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages
- Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works
- Preparation and management of interim applications and payment certifications
- Drafting, managing, and closing out subcontracts
- Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting
- Preparation, management, and negotiation of claims and final accounts
- Identifying, pricing, and managing change control processes
- Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and opportunities
- Producing contract reviews, BPR information, and management
- Supporting project budget establishment from contract award stage
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Experience in power or major infrastructure projects.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical approach to managing risk and improving commercial outcomes.
- RICS membership (desirable but not essential)
