Are you a Civil Engineer looking to diversify your skillset? Laing O'Rourke are currently recruiting for an Assistant Digital Build Engineer (Digital Build Assistant) to join our team in Calderdale. This will be a four-storey clinical building at Calderdale Royal Hospital. The project will deliver a new adult and children's accident and emergency department with resuscitation bays and assessment rooms, as well as ten new inpatient wards. This is an office based role.
Role & responsibilities
- Development and agreement of the project Digital Build Scope with the project delivery team including the assignment of scoped items to design partners.
- Reviewing third party design package interfaces with Digital Build and ensuring that dependencies are considered and captured within project Information Required Schedules (IRS).
- 3D modelling of permanent and temporary works elements as per agreed Digital Build scope.
- Input of Digital Build metadata to modelled elements and management of third-party metadata requirements.
- Raise RFIs and BimCollab issues generated by Digital Build and Digital Review with relevant design partners.
- Issuing of coordinated and complete model content for ‘setting-out' on site.
- Models issued to be used in Quantification exercises and onto Trimble Connect for trades to use for construction.
- Preparation of pre-execution pack issue Solibri check reports for inclusion in Precast Detailing Execution packs issued to Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC).
- Ensure project access to a federated Digital Build Model updated every two weeks as a minimum.
- Contribution to Digital Build review meetings attended by Project Technical Leads, Project Engineers, DfMA Engineer, PTS Lead, Detailing Lead and Lead Digital Engineer.
Requirements
Qualifications (preferred)
- Working towards a Degree in Engineering discipline (Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering), or other construction related degree.
- Working towards an industry recognised BIM specific accreditation or structured training, or Chartership.
Experience
- Some experience working within construction interfacing with trades and/or Design Consultants.
- Able to demonstrate understanding of common construction methods.
- Capable of offering guidance to Technicians and Students.
