We are looking for people with a genuine interest in construction and the built environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ambitious, with the potential to progress to a supervisory / management role over a five-to-ten-year period.

Role Overview

Formwork carpenters contribute to the construction of projects through the preparation, installation and quality management of all stages of the formwork and falsework process. Preparing falsework that provides temporary support structures for forms and undertake formwork. This includes producing panels and fittings that mould to form a desired shape with concrete, such as slabs, support beams, columns and walls. They are involved in the entire envelope of the construction industry.

Apprenticeship level and standard: Formworker level 2

Entry Requirements:

  • Eligibility without restrictions to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship.
  • Full mobility to enable travel to various project locations if required.
  • Attainment of 3 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at level 4 at a minimum.

Please note that the apprenticeship training provider is based in Norfolk, and learning will be delivered through block release. You will need to be able to travel to Norfolk on a Sunday evening approximately 4–5 times per year to attend the required training.

The Laing O'Rourke Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 2 and/or 3 apprenticeship standards in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of trade technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship.
