Laing O'Rourke are seeking a motivated Senior Environmental Advisor to support the delivery of complex, high-profile projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in environmental management and sustainability who is passionate about driving best practice within the construction industry. You will play a key role in ensuring projects meet strict environmental and sustainability standards while supporting our ambitions around net zero and nature-positive delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support delivery of the organisation's sustainability strategy, including net zero and nature-positive outcomes
- Ensure compliance with the Energy and Environmental Management System and relevant environmental legislation
- Embed client and internal environmental requirements into project delivery
- Identify environmental risks and opportunities and implement appropriate mitigation measures
- Coordinate environmental consents and liaise with consent-granting authorities
- Manage engagement with specialist environmental contractors
- Develop and maintain Environmental and Sustainability Management Plans (CEMP, EMP, LEMP, SWMP, SMP)
- Deliver environmental training and engage project teams on sustainability initiatives such as carbon reduction, waste minimisation and biodiversity protection
- Monitor environmental performance through inspections and reporting
- Support audits, management reviews, and the investigation of environmental incidents and corrective actions
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or related discipline
- IEMA Practitioner (or equivalent professional membership)
- Experience delivering environmental compliance and sustainability in project environments
- Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO50001 standards
- BREEAM Accredited Professional (AP) training and experience coordinating compliance
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to deliver training and workshops and support project teams effectively
