Role Overview and the Purpose of the role:

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of major construction and infrastructure projects. Working within project delivery teams, you will learn how to manage project costs, contracts, risk and commercial performance while contributing to successful project outcomes. The programme provides structured development, mentoring and support towards professional accreditation and a long-term commercial career.

Key Responsibilities – What you'll do:

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of major construction and infrastructure projects. Working within project delivery teams, you will learn how to manage project costs, contracts, risk and commercial performance while contributing to successful project outcomes. The programme provides structured development, mentoring and support towards professional accreditation and a long-term commercial career.

  • Assist with cost reporting and forecasting
  • Support subcontract procurement activities
  • Measure and value completed works
  • Assist with change management and variations
  • Support payment applications and assessments
  • Maintain commercial records and reporting systems
  • Undertake cost analysis
  • Support risk and opportunity reviews
  • Assist in preparation of final accounts
  • Contribute to project commercial governance and controls.

Additional Information

Location: National, Laing O'Rourke projects are nationwide across the UK. Quantity Surveyors are project based.

We are recruiting for locations that we anticipate having Early Talent roles for at the time of our next programme commencement. Please note that due to the nature of the business, there could be changes to locations noted.

Our projects are based across the UK (National) so you'll need to be prepared to be flexible about where you work. Depending on project requirements, this may involve travelling, staying away from home during the week, or relocating closer to a project site. In return, you'll gain valuable experience working on a variety of projects, helping you develop your skills and broaden your career opportunities.
