We're looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of critical infrastructure within the Power sector. If you're passionate about technical excellence, driving safety standards, leading engineering teams, and delivering major infrastructure projects, we'd love to hear from you.

You will support the delivery of the civil engineering works for a Substation. Managing and mentoring a team of Section and Site Engineers, you'll help deliver key project elements including concrete sub-structures, steel support structures, steel frame and cladding works, and non-HV mechanical and electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and support a team of Site and Section Engineers
  • Promote and implement best engineering practices across the project
  • Support safe delivery through effective RAMS implementation and review
  • Oversee quality assurance documentation, record keeping and ITP requirements
  • Review and interpret design and as-built information to support delivery
  • Coordinate materials, plant requirements and call-off schedules
  • Support temporary works processes and undertake TWC responsibilities where required
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure delivery to programme, budget, quality and safety requirements
  • Champion Laing O'Rourke's digital engineering, DfMA and engineered safety approaches

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or an industry-recognised technical qualification (HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent) with relevant experience
  • Around 5 years' experience within an engineering role in a construction delivery environment
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, temporary works and site operations
  • Experience managing engineering teams and coordinating subcontractors
  • Knowledge of QA processes, ITPs and technical compliance requirements
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation is desirable
