The opportunity: Expanded Structures are the specialist reinforced concrete basement, sub and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke and are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Friston. We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework that will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.
What will the role look like?
- Managing all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages
- Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works
- Preparation and management of interim applications and payment certifications
- Drafting, managing, and closing out subcontracts
- Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting
- Preparation, management, and negotiation of claims and final accounts
- Identifying, pricing, and managing change control processes
- Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and opportunities
- Producing contract reviews, BPR information, and management reports
- Supporting project budget establishment from contract award stage
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Strong NEC contract knowledge
- Proven experience in direct project delivery
- Power and/or infrastructure sector experience
- Degree qualified in relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management)
- Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors desirable but not essential.
