Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C! We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Assistant Estimator to support developing estimates from first principles associated with the Civil Works Programme of the Sizewell C Project. This is a key role which involves working closely with the lead Estimator and Head of Estimating to ensure consistency in approach set out by the client. You will be supporting other Estimators with stakeholder management producing estimates across planning and procurement. Additionally, you will assist with supporting presentations, negotiations and justifying prices to both senior leaders within the business and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support production of estimates in accordance with the SZC policies and procedures.
- Review SZC's drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment.
- Code and develop pricing in accordance with coding conventions set up on the project.
- Develop from first principles labour, plant material, subcontract pricing within the Contractor's Estimating Software Candy.
- Record assumptions and identify risks and opportunities including supporting developing the risk evaluation from a pricing/budgetary point of view.
- Liaise with members of the project team & supply chain to develop and understand methodologies and principles proposed.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Proven experience as an Estimator from a commercial or operational background.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Infrastructure Main Contractor experience ideally in the rail civil engineering market would be desirable.
