Overview

Location: Dartford

This role does not provide visa sponsorship. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Finance Manager to join Laing O\\\’Rourke\\\’s Specialist Trading Business Group (STBG). This is a senior role with direct exposure to Business Unit Leaders and the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business units. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven finance professional to operate at the heart of the business, influencing decisions at the highest level and working alongside senior leadership. The role offers both visibility and recognition, giving you the platform to make a real impact. As the Finance Manager, you will act as the financial voice of the business units, providing trusted insights. Your focus will be on delivering robust financial management, clear and impactful reporting, and data driven analysis that directly supports strategic and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong, strategic relationships with Business Unit Leaders and project teams, influencing decision-making at the highest level.
  • Lead preparation and delivery of monthly financial reports (CIM1, CIM2, CIM2.5), ensuring alignment with Group deadlines.
  • Provide insightful analysis of project and business unit performance, highlighting risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and collaborate on cash planning to optimise financial positions.
  • Act as primary point of contact for external audits, ensuring full compliance with International Accounting Standards (IAS).
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Provide strategic and operational financial support for high-profile projects and business initiatives.

Essential qualifications & experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in financial business partnering with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively at executive level.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting cycles.
  • Strong track record in driving improvements across finance functions.

Desirable experience

  • Financial management experience of large and complex engineering or infrastructure contracts.
  • Familiarity with finance and reporting systems such as COINs, Tagetik, and Power BI.
  • Experience working in a finance function within a large or matrixed organisation.
