Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O'Rourke, two of Europe's most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion. Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale.

Are you a construction manager who has played a key role in overseeing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications? Are you an effective leader who can manage a diverse team of workers, subcontractors, and other professionals, ensuring everyone is on the same page and motivated?

Role and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that regular site safety specific inspections at every level of the organization under his responsibility, from supervision to management levels are conducted.
  • To prepare supporting documentation, as required for Client and corporate safety committees and steering committees.
  • To ensure within his scope and area of responsibility implementation of the safety system and compliance with the safety standards and site specific rules and to monitor corrective actions.
  • To capture all learning and experience feedback for his scope and area of responsibility so it can be used from Unit 1 to Unit 2 construction.
  • To participate in any investigation regarding accidents, incidents or near-misses that occur within his scope and area of responsibility.
  • To apply the Quality management system relevant to his scope and area of responsibility.
  • To carry out within his scope and area of responsibility any corrective action originating from the Quality management system.
  • To identify, report and investigate any non-conformances occurring in his scope or area of responsibility according to site rules.
  • To carry out all remedial actions, following non-conformances, and identify and report lessons learnt to Project Leader or Senior Project Manager.
  • To liaise with Site Engineering teams covering his scope and area of responsibility to ensure timely production of methods documentation.
  • To highlight any issue with the supply of design information which would impact the general programmer for his scope or area of responsibility.
  • To review all method requirements for his scope or area of responsibility prior to their integration within the design provided by the Client.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Has delivered projects of longer duration (typically up to 4 years) with clear objectives, potential for limited conflict, and a small number of key stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in managing work package interfaces or sections of work between stakeholders – subcontractors, suppliers, client and delivery team.
  • Management of relevant documentation, sub-contractor coordination, quality assurance and quality control.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experienced working on large infrastructure projects.

Education & Qualifications

  • Must hold a degree in Building/Construction management or Civil engineering with relevant building experience.
  • IOSH/SMSTS or equivalent safety accreditation.

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance. Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
