The role

We are looking for a warm, professional and adaptable Senior Cover Receptionist to deliver an excellent front-of-house experience across commercial office buildings within your agreed area. This role allows you to enjoy the variety of mobile reception work, with the reassurance of guaranteed monthly income.

You will be a trusted member of LAH’s Cover Department, stepping into different buildings to cover planned absences and urgent reception requirements. Wherever you are working, you will help ensure tenants, visitors and contractors receive a welcoming, organised and professional service.

This role combines guaranteed monthly income with variety and responsibility. It suits someone who enjoys meeting people, takes ownership and can bring calm, confidence and personality to different front-of-house environments.

You will work independently on site, with support from LAH’s Cover Department and the relevant Building Management team.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • providing a warm and professional welcome for tenants, visitors and contractor

  • managing reception activity, including visitors, deliveries and couriers

  • learning each building’s procedures and maintaining a polished, organised reception

  • carrying out agreed routine visual checks and reporting issues through the correct process

Communication

  • communicating professionally with tenants, visitors, colleagues and service partners

  • keeping the Cover Department informed about assignments and any issues affecting service

  • providing clear handovers and supporting building communications where required

Professional Standards

  • maintaining high standards of presentation, conduct, reliability and punctuality

  • following site procedures and health and safety requirements

  • representing LAH positively and delivering consistent standards across different buildings

Independence

  • settling confidently into different reception environments

  • prioritising tasks and using initiative appropriately

  • recognising when to resolve a routine issue and when to seek support or elevate

These four areas guide recruitment, induction and ongoing performance reviews. Success depends on both what you do and how you deliver the service.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Who This Role Suits

You will enjoy variety, working independently and interacting with people throughout the day. You should be comfortable travelling within your agreed operating area and responding calmly when plans change.

We welcome relevant experience from reception, hospitality, hotels, corporate services or similar customer-facing environments. Commercial building experience is helpful, alongside:

  • professional communication and a welcoming manner

  • a proactive, organised approach

  • confidence using email and Microsoft applications

  • the ability to follow site instructions and work without close supervision

Your Hours and Working Arrangements

You will agree three regular weekdays with us. Your contract provides 86 hours 40 minutes of basic paid hours per monthly hours period, equivalent to a weekly average of 20 hours.

Shift lengths and weekly hours may vary within that month. Your basic monthly salary remains payable if LAH allocates less work. Authorised hours above your monthly allocation are paid additionally at £14.50 per hour. Agreed work outside your three contractual days is also paid separately, unless it is an agreed day swap.

The role includes early-morning availability for urgent reception cover. On your agreed days, when you are not already working, you must be contactable during the morning response window and reasonably able to get ready and travel to an assignment within your operating area.

Benefits

  • guaranteed basic monthly salary throughout your employment

  • paid holiday, pension scheme and life assurance

  • 24/7 virtual GP for you and your family

  • wellbeing resources, including digital gym and nutrition content

  • financial and legal helpline

  • discounts across multiple retailers

  • structured induction, site familiarisation and access to the LAH Academy

  • referral programme

  • eligible travel expenses reimbursed under our Cover Department policy
