As a Technical Principal, you will work as the trusted technical advisor across a value stream. From design to delivery, you will work with product leads to ensure strategic alignment, technical excellence, and that commercial goals are delivered. You will work under the guidance of an Engineering Manager within your product domain. As you will be responsible for the security, performance, resilience, and product excellence within the value stream, you'll be working with cross-functional delivery teams to ensure this and bring the product vision to reality. You will also work alongside other Technical Principals to define the technical roadmap and ensure alignment with product strategy. You will own and champion developer experience within your product teams, advocating and implementing best practices, and collaborating with the DevEx team to foster a highly productive engineering culture.
Providing team leadership and line management duties for a team of engineers of all experience levels, you will cultivate talent, perform performance reviews, and recruit new engineers. You will stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and experiment with emerging technologies (e.g., AI) through POCs to identify and integrate breakthrough solutions.

Minimum Criteria
- Experience as an engineering lead, with a strong track record of driving technical excellence and innovation.
- Considerable experience as a software engineer.
- Demonstrable experience of coaching, mentoring, cultivating talent, and recruitment.
- In-depth knowledge of software engineering methodologies, architectural principles, tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Excellent judgment, decision-making, and influencing skills.
- Innovative and solution-focused with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience of working alongside delivery partner leads and third parties.
