We provide practical care and support to families with children who have complex health needs, helping them remain safely at home. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Care Worker who can combine strong care delivery with mentoring, reliability, and a positive influence within the team.

Location: North West (community based with regional travel)

Hours: 37.5 hours

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days (including bank holidays)

The Role (AKA: What You Will Be Brilliant At)

As a Senior Care Worker, you will deliver high-quality care to children with moderate to high needs while supporting the development of others within the team. You will be a consistent and reliable presence on shift, helping guide colleagues, maintain standards, and contribute to a positive and professional care environment.

You will:

  • Deliver high-quality care in line with individual care plans
  • Support children with complex health needs
  • Communicate effectively with families and the wider care team
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Mentor and support Band 1 and Band 2 carers during shifts
  • Lead by example in professionalism, communication, and care standards
  • Assist with rota organisation and day-to-day coordination as delegated
  • Escalate concerns and changes in condition appropriately
  • Contribute to a supportive and positive team culture

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to completing Level 3 within a defined timeframe.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Additional certificates in medication, moving & handling, or specialist care needs.
  • Emergency First Aid or Paediatric First Aid certification.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in health or social care.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting children, young people, or families in the community.
  • Proven track record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and consistent high‑quality care delivery.
  • Experience of supporting colleagues, mentoring new staff, or acting as a point of guidance.
  • Experience working within organisational policies and procedures, with evidence of compliance.
  • Experience responding to low‑level conflict or challenges calmly and professionally.
  • Experience working with children with complex needs (non‑clinical tasks).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and support less experienced carers.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to assist with rota support or shift coordination.
  • Ability to work with accountability, reliability, and integrity.
  • Able to manage minor conflict and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Confident in documenting care clearly, accurately, and timely.
  • Ability to problem‑solve operational issues with minimal supervision.
  • Basic digital literacy (apps, eMAR, care system logs, messaging platforms).
