We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Children's Nurse to join Lagans Foundation as a Nurse Level 3, providing vital care to children and young people with complex health needs across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire. This role is a brilliant opportunity for a nurse who wants to make a real difference to families while developing their clinical confidence and early leadership skills. You will work in home and community settings, delivering safe, high-quality care and building trusted relationships with families who rely on our support.

As part of our care team, you will be supported by experienced Area Care Team Leaders and work closely with carers, senior carers, apprentices and fellow nurses. Main duties of the job

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of safe, effective, and emotionally intelligent care across all hubs.
  • Maintain professional nursing accountability, oversee clinical governance, and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Area Care Team Leaders, Seniors, and care staff.
  • Support staff training, CPD, and student placements.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and oversee risk management.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and board on service evaluation, financial planning, and strategic growth.
  • Represent Lagans Foundation externally, engaging with commissioners, ICBs, NHS, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Promote family-centered care and ensure children and families' voices influence service design.

This role involves delivering high-quality nursing care to children and young people with complex health needs in their homes and community settings. You will assess and monitor children's conditions, respond to changes, and support families to feel safe, informed and confident in the care provided.

You will work closely with our Area Care Team Leaders and wider care team, contributing to clinical oversight and ensuring care plans and risk assessments remain up to date. The role includes guiding and supporting carers, apprentices and student nurses, helping build their confidence and competence in practice.

You will promote safe, person-centred care at all times, follow safeguarding procedures, and communicate clearly with families and external professionals. The role also involves participating in supervisions, maintaining high clinical standards, and taking part in ongoing professional development.

This is a community-based role that requires independence, strong communication, and a compassionate approach to supporting children and families with complex needs.

Job responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in home and community settings.
  • Support children with complex needs, including tracheostomy care, respiratory support, enteral feeding, epilepsy management and medication administration (training provided).
  • Monitor and respond to changes in children's health; elevate concerns appropriately.
  • Contribute to care plans, risk assessments and professional documentation.
  • Support and mentor carers, apprentices, student nurses and junior colleagues.
  • Assist with competency checks and identifying training needs.
  • Work within safeguarding procedures and promote safe practice at all times.
  • Represent Lagans Foundation professionally in home visits and multi-agency meetings.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse (Children's, LD, or RGN with paediatric experience).
  • Minimum 2.5 years post-registration.
  • Experience providing care for children with complex needs.
  • Able to work independently in community settings.
  • Strong communication, clinical judgement and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrates compassion, professionalism, resilience and integrity.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff or students.
  • Community, hospice, or home-based nursing experience.
  • Interest in developing specialist clinical skills.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Children's, Learning Disability, or RGN with paediatric experience).
  • Minimum 2.5 years post-registration experience.
  • Experience caring for children or young people with complex health needs.
  • Ability to work independently in community settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment and escalation skills.
  • Ability to develop and follow care plans and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to mentor, guide or support junior colleagues.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle including business use insurance.
  • Enhanced DBS-including child and adult workforce and on the update system.
