Role Overview: You will act as the key link between the site workforce and the Project Manager, ensuring works are carried out safely, correctly and in line with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.

Why this role stands out: This is a hands-on, site-focused role for an experienced tradesperson looking to step into a leadership position. As Site Foreman, you will be responsible for running the day-to-day works on site, coordinating subcontractors, controlling quality and driving progress on the ground.

What you’ll do:

  • Take day-to-day control of site activities, ensuring works progress in line with the construction programme.
  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors on site, ensuring they understand what is required and when.
  • Plan monthly, weekly, daily and short-term activities, prioritising works to keep the site moving efficiently in line with the construction programme.
  • Act as the main on-site point of contact, reporting directly to the Project Manager.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect works on an ongoing basis to ensure they meet required quality standards, specifications and drawings.
  • Ensure works are completed in line with company standards and best practice.
  • Identify defects, non-compliance or poor workmanship and ensure these are addressed promptly.
  • Flag quality issues, risks or concerns to the Project Manager at the earliest opportunity.
  • Liaise with External Bodies, i.e. The client, Warranty provider and building control to arrange site visits and checks to ensure all checkpoints are getting viewed and reported on as necessary.
  • Close out the reports as necessary.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand and work from construction drawings, specifications and details.
  • Interpret drawings on site and clearly communicate requirements to subcontractors.
  • Assist in resolving technical or sequencing issues on site in collaboration with the Project Manager and design team.
  • Ensure correct construction methods are being followed across all trades.

Health & Safety:

  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture on site.
  • Ensure subcontractors work in accordance with RAMS and site safety requirements.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure safe systems of work are always followed.
  • Report any safety concerns, incidents or near misses immediately.
  • Carry out standard daily check sheets and daily site briefings with subcontractors.
  • Ensure Induction and training records are up to date and any new personnel on site are inducted and signed up to RAMS.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Regularly update the Project Manager on progress, issues, labour levels and upcoming risks.
  • Assist with short-term planning and coordination of upcoming works.
  • Support site records, progress photos and inspections as required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with subcontractors and site personnel.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong trade background (e.g. Joiner, Plumber, Bricklayer or similar).
  • Proven experience working on construction sites in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to manage people and coordinate multiple subcontractors on site.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and quality standards.
  • Ability to read, understand and work from construction drawings.
  • Practical, site-driven mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to give clear direction.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

It would also be desirable to have:

  • Previous experience acting as a Site Foreman/Manager.
  • Experience working on residential construction projects.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Knowledge of NHBC standards or equivalent.
