FK Lowry, part of the Lagan Specialist Group, has been delivering specialist piling solutions for over 35 years. As members of the Federation of Piling Specialists and founding member of the Piling Contractors Association of Ireland (PCAI), we design and install CFA and rotary bored piling, retaining walls, driven piling and ground improvement systems for some of the regions most significant infrastructure and building projects.

Role Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Manager to join the FK Lowry Business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of all piling projects in the UK & Ireland to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the Projects, on time, within budget and lead the teams within company values and guidelines, while adding value and development to the Piling Business. The Contracts Manager will act as a key interface between clients, site teams, commercial staff and senior management.

What you'll do

  • Oversee the management of piling projects to ensure they are adequately resourced and successfully delivered to scope, cost, health, safety and quality.
  • Provide direction, motivation and leadership to both internal staff on site and external consultants or supply chain partners engaged in providing support activities to the project.
  • Responsible for all safety, health, environment and quality matters including driving excellence and championing continuous improvement.
  • Ensure project complies with FK Lowry procedures including delegated levels of authority.
  • Deploy appropriate and competent resources to all project management activity.
  • Maintain commercial and contractual control of all piling projects and report to Piling Director on same.
  • Implement the Business Management System, monitoring and control mechanisms, policies and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to statutory and legal requirements and manage the projects risks and opportunities in line with company procedures.
  • Actively seek out, drive and promote service excellence, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach and motivate the project teams and lead by example.
  • Implement Performance management regime to maximise team performance.
  • Review and approve project management plans, health and safety plans, environmental work package plans.
  • Promote the identity and image of the company at all times.
  • Lead the project team in embracing Lagan Specialist Group Values.
  • Lead and develop client relationships.
  • Understand strengths and weaknesses of team members and work with them to good effect.
  • Demonstrate clear and visible leadership, with capacity to absorb responsibility and accountability whilst providing sensitive direction to others.
  • Remain effective when the situation is unclear, complicated or pressurised.

What you'll bring

As a Contracts Manager your main skills and experience will include:

  • A degree in Construction, Engineering or related subject.
  • 5 years experience in managing piling, ground engineering or heavy civils projects.
  • Strong understanding of piling techniques (e.g. CFA, Rotary, driven, bored).
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating project teams in demanding environments.
  • Excellent commercial and financial understanding.
  • The ability to safely manage, develop and motivate a team including proactive management of poor performance.
  • The ability to demonstrate skill and knowledge of managing costs and maximising value of contracts through efficiencies, effective resource planning and working closely with support teams.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A good understanding of elements necessary to deliver effective supply chain management and support across the organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to manage a team and for relationships with Clients.
  • Flexibility is essential as this role will involve work and travel throughout the UK & Ireland.
  • A strong communicator, comfortable interfacing with senior executives and external clients.
  • IT literacy.
