Role overview

You will provide a complete professional and efficient estimating service for all projects tendered by Charles Brand, ensuring that contracts can be won to meet the overall business and financial objectives of the Company, in line with our sustainable growth plan.

What you'll do

  • Prepare estimates, cost plans and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
  • Undertake quantity take-offs and develop accurate pricing for labour, plant, materials and subcontract works.
  • Review tender documentation, assess risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal teams throughout the tender process.
  • Support tender planning, cash flow forecasting and management reviews.
  • Attend site visits and tender meetings as required.
  • Ensure tender submissions are completed to a high standard and within deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through tender reviews and lessons learned.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and legal obligations relating to health, safety, environmental and quality management.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner and develop positive working relationships with clients, suppliers, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Use company systems, processes and technology effectively, supporting efficiency, continuous improvement and best practice.

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum of 3 years Civil Engineering Estimating experience
  • In-depth knowledge of regional supply chains, competitors, and markets
  • Experience with work winning and tender submission
  • Good awareness and knowledge of forms of contract and methods of measurement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong IT skills covering Microsoft packages, and an understanding of Estimating Software
  • Full Driving License, valid for driving in the UK and Ireland

  • Strong attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy in preparation of tender documentation
  • Strong writing and presentational skills with efficient and clear use of language thereby ensuring high quality professional submissions.
  • Effective and motivated self-starter, enthusiastic and driven to succeed in his/her submissions.
  • Awareness of risk management issues and retaining focus in all tenders on the capability of the group to profitably deliver projects tendered for.
  • Fully flexible regarding travel, prepared to travel to site locations
