Essential Criteria

  • An Honours Degree (2:2 level or above) in Politics or a related subject like History (Politics must be a joint or major component).
  • A secondary level teaching qualification in Politics/History as recognised by the Department of Education by 31st August 2026.
  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience of teaching GCSE Politics. (Student placement year is acceptable).
  • A written statement of how you can support the College’s integrated and inclusive ethos.
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school.

Desirable Criteria

  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience of teaching A Level Politics. (Student placement is acceptable).
  • Experience of teaching History (Student placement year is acceptable).

The Board of Governors reserves the right to refine the criteria. The subject teacher will also be required to act as a form teacher.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant subject 2.2 or above; Politics must be a joint or major component is essential.
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • A secondary level teaching qualification in Politics/History as recognised by the Department of Education by 31st August 2026.

Skills

  • Relevant teaching experience to GCSE level.
  • Experience of teaching to A-Level.
