We're excited to offer a salaried GP role to join our team for up to 10 sessions per week. We may consider job share with up to 2 GPs.

The postholder will support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred general medical services to the practice population.
  • Undertake a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and video consultations, supported by the practice's total triage model.
  • Act as the daily Duty Doctor (Doctor On Call) on a rotational basis, overseeing the management of urgent same-day clinical demand.
  • Clinically triage incoming patient requests through the total triage system, determining the most appropriate outcome.
  • Prescribing in accordance with the accepted prescribing formulary whenever clinically appropriate.
  • Effective management of long-term conditions.
  • Review and action pathology results, correspondence, DOCMAN, prescriptions using EPS and other clinical tasks in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, and service development activities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of QOF, enhanced services and other contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records using the practice clinical system.
  • Participate in practice governance, safeguarding, significant event reviews and continuous professional development.

About us:

Ladybarn Group Practice is a large training practice looking to recruit one to two salaried GPs for up to 10 sessions. Successful applicants will be joining a sociable, ambitious, and progressive GP Team of four partners, two practice managers and eight salaried GPs. Our practice list of over 12,400 South Manchester patients will provide an exciting, varied, and cosmopolitan caseload.

We adhere to BMA safe working principles and are always interested in changing practice to work smarter not harder!

Job responsibilities:

  • Make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including telephone triage, surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Assess the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Contribute to QOF requirements and Manchester Standards and recording data appropriately.
  • In consultation with patients, develop care plans for health-related illnesses.
  • Screening patients for health education.
  • Admit and discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Take a lead role in some aspects of the clinical work within the team.
  • Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
