We’re looking for a Junior/Midweight Digital Designer to help turn client briefs, brand guidelines, audience insight and creative direction into clear, polished digital design assets that support measurable growth - initially focused on one client in the Health Tech space.
This is a role for someone early-to-midway through their design career who wants to grow quickly, work strategically and build strong digital creative instincts. You’ll support the production of campaign creative, paid social assets, landing page designs, email assets, display ads and other marketing materials.
The role will initially be focused on supporting one key client in the Health Tech space. You’ll be embedded in live client work from the start, with support and direction from Ladder’s internal team.
This role requires fluent English, strong communication skills and the ability to think beyond execution. You’ll need to understand why a design is being created, who it is for, what message it needs to communicate, and how it supports the client’s commercial goals.
Contract-to-Hire Structure
This role will start as a contract engagement, with clear intent to convert into a full-time role. We are looking to make a permanent hire, but we want to find the right candidate and validate the role through real client work before making a long-term commitment. The initial contract period will be hands-on and embedded in live projects, focused initially on one key Health Tech client. If there is a strong mutual fit, the intention is for the role to become full-time.
What You'll Do
- Create visually appealing digital assets for one key Health Tech client initially, including paid social ads, display ads, email assets, landing page sections, website banners and campaign creative.
- Support senior designers, creative strategists and marketers by turning briefs, brand guidelines and creative concepts into polished design assets.
- Think strategically about each design task, including the audience, message, channel, objective and commercial goal behind the work.
- Adapt existing design directions into new formats, sizes and variations for different platforms, audiences and placements.
- Help produce creative iterations based on performance learnings, audience insight and client feedback.
- Design with sensitivity to the Health Tech category, where clarity, trust, accessibility and credibility matter.
- Collaborate with the Strategy team to understand project requirements, campaign objectives and target audiences.
- Work with copywriters to make sure visual and written content feel aligned, clear and on-brand.
- Maintain brand consistency while learning how to flex creative for different audiences, messages and campaign goals.
- Support the development and maintenance of design standards for digital marketing campaigns.
- Take feedback from senior team members and clients, then use it to improve your work quickly and constructively.
- Manage assigned design tasks, stay organised and meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment.
- Use project management tools such as ClickUp to track your work and communicate progress clearly.
- Communicate clearly in fluent written and spoken English with internal team members and, where appropriate, clients.
- Stay up to date with design trends, digital marketing creative, AI tools and emerging technologies.
- Gradually build your ability to explain design decisions in internal reviews and, where appropriate, on selected client calls.
- Use quieter working periods to develop your design skills, improve your craft and learn from stronger creative examples.
- Over time, as the role grows, you may have the opportunity to support additional Ladder clients across different industries.
Who This Role is For
This role is for someone who:
- Has 2–4 years of experience in a design role, freelance work, agency environment or a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant digital design ability.
- Speaks and writes fluent English, with the ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and, where needed, clients.
- Can think strategically about design, not just visually — understanding the audience, message, channel and business objective behind the work.
- Has experience creating digital assets for social media, paid ads, email, landing pages or websites.
- Is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Has experience with Figma, Canva or similar design tools.
- Has good visual taste and a willingness to keep improving.
- Has strong attention to detail.
- Can take feedback well and turn it into stronger work.
- Is organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced remote environment.
- Is curious about digital marketing, performance creative and how design can influence results.
- Is proactive, adaptable and willing to learn from senior designers, strategists and marketers.
- Understands that great design is not just about aesthetics — it also needs to support clear communication, audience relevance and commercial goals.
- Cares about both quality of thinking and quality of execution.
Nice To Have
- Experience in an agency environment.
- Experience designing for Health Tech, healthcare, wellness or mission-led brands.
- Familiarity with AI tools for design, image generation or creative production.
- Basic understanding of digital marketing creative and performance testing.
- Interest in user journeys, audience segmentation and conversion-focused design.
- Familiarity with project management software such as ClickUp.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS or landing page design principles.
- Experience working across both B2B and B2C brands.
- Experience presenting or explaining creative work to internal teams or clients.
Who This Role is Not For
Designers who need every decision made for them before they can start. Designers who only want to execute tasks and are not interested in the strategy behind the work. Designers who struggle to communicate clearly in English. Designers who only want to work on brand identity and not digital marketing execution. Designers who struggle to take feedback or iterate quickly. People who need every task to be fully defined before they can make progress. Designers who are not comfortable working at pace across multiple asset types. People who do not enjoy collaborating with strategists, marketers and copywriters. Designers who are not interested in how creative work performs in the real world. Anyone who struggles to balance visual quality with deadlines, ownership and commercial focus.
