Overview

In this role you help shape LADbible’s daily content agenda by working with the Brand Editor across editorial and social. You will oversee the publishing cycle, set priorities, and ensure content meets quality, tone and legal standards. You’ll use audience data and platform trends to guide decisions and support the Brand Editor, stepping in when needed. This is a hands-on editorial leadership role in a fast-paced newsroom with a strong focus on accuracy, branding and audience engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Agree daily priorities with the Brand Editor to coordinate coverage and maintain a consistent brand voice across platforms
  • Deputise for the Brand Editor, providing editorial leadership and making publishing decisions
  • Commission, edit and publish news content including breaking news, trending stories, original journalism and search-led articles
  • Collaborate with the audience team to inform commissioning and forward planning
  • Lead planning and tracking of original journalism and exclusive stories
  • Maintain high standards of editorial judgement, accuracy, sourcing and media-law compliance
  • Identify legal, regulatory and reputational risks and escalate when needed
  • Use audience insights, search trends and platform behavior to inform publishing and future planning
  • Monitor performance with tools like Aperture, Chartbeat, Google Analytics and Mission Control to optimise coverage
  • Work with the Brand Editor to meet monthly targets for sessions, search traffic and revenue
  • Set reporter KPIs with the Head of Editorial and conduct performance reviews
  • Promote LADbible’s editorial voice, tone and standards across output
  • Ensure content is culturally relevant and aligned with audience interests
  • Manage team rota to ensure adequate staffing for evenings, weekends and major events
  • Lead and contribute to a collaborative newsroom culture

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in digital publishing, preferably in a fast-paced newsroom with editorial leadership
  • Experience managing, motivating and developing a team of journalists
  • Strong commissioning and news-editing experience with copy, headlines, structure and framing improvements
  • Working knowledge of media law, editorial compliance and legal risks in digital publishing
  • Confidence handling legally sensitive stories and knowing when to seek further guidance
  • Experience using performance data to inform commissioning, publishing and planning decisions
  • Experience setting objectives, managing performance and providing actionable feedback
  • Strong communication, organisation and team-coordination skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing workflows, developing stories and fast-moving priorities
