LADbible Group is one of the world’s leading social publishers, reaching a huge global audience across editorial, video, social, documentary and live. Our mission is to build communities that laugh, think and act, giving young audiences a voice through content that is entertaining, informative and culturally relevant.
SPORTbible is one of the biggest sports communities in the world, covering the stories, personalities, moments and debates that matter most to fans. As the brand evolves, we are building a more sustainable, multi-sport, multi-platform proposition that goes beyond reactive trending news and creates a habitual destination for sports audiences.
About The Role
We are looking for a Social Editor to join the SPORTbible editorial team. This is a fast-paced, audience-first role for someone who lives and breathes sport, internet culture and social storytelling. You will be responsible for sourcing, pitching, packaging, publishing and optimising stories across SPORTbible’s social channels and website, helping us reach fans wherever they are.
You will spot the stories our audience will care about before they become obvious, pitch strong original and exclusive lines, and work with writers, editors and wider social teams to turn those ideas into high-performing content. You will help shape daily coverage across football, F1, boxing, MMA, tennis, golf and other major sporting moments, while also identifying opportunities in emerging fan conversations, talent stories, live events and new formats. This role is central to SPORTbible’s next phase: protecting our strength in football and Facebook while growing broader audiences across new sports, platforms and referrers.
What The Opportunity Looks Like
- Proactively source, pitch and develop sports stories, including original angles, exclusive lines, interviews, first-person ideas and behind-the-scenes features.
- Monitor the sports news cycle, fixtures, social platforms, fan communities, forums, Google Trends and live events to identify breaking stories, viral moments and emerging conversations.
- Package and publish SPORTbible content across Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter and other relevant platforms, using strong captions, headlines, thumbnails and visual presentation.
- Build daily publishing schedules based on live sport, trending topics, original stories, audience behaviour and performance data.
- Work closely with journalists and editors to develop story ideas that can travel across social, web, search, Discover, video and emerging referrers.
- Use audience data and social insights to understand what is working, improve future output and identify repeatable formats.
- Help grow SPORTbible beyond its core football base by contributing ideas across F1, boxing, MMA, tennis, golf, NBA, NFL, darts, athletics and major sporting events.
- Identify follow-ups, explainers, rankings, debates, op-eds, appointment-to-view formats and evergreen ideas that build audience loyalty.
- Support live event coverage, including major matches, fights, races, tournaments, press conferences and transfer windows.
- Collaborate with channel managers, writers, video teams and other brands to maximise reach and avoid siloed working.
- Experiment with new audience opportunities, including alternative referrers and community-led platforms.
- Maintain SPORTbible’s tone of voice while ensuring content is accurate, legally sound and aligned with editorial standards.
- Bring creativity, initiative and critical thinking to the team, sharing learnings and helping improve how SPORTbible covers sport.
Skills And Experience We’d Like You To Have
- Experience in social media, digital journalism, audience editing or a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Excellent sports knowledge, especially football, with strong awareness of wider sport including F1, boxing, MMA and major global events.
- A sharp instinct for what sports fans care about, from breaking news and viral clips to fan debates, personalities and cultural moments.
- Proven ability to source and pitch strong story ideas, including original angles and exclusive lines.
- Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram and X/Twitter, with awareness of TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, WhatsApp and other emerging audience channels.
- Strong headline, caption and visual packaging skills.
- Confidence using data, analytics and audience signals to improve performance.
- Good writing ability and editorial judgement, with an understanding of media law, accuracy and responsible publishing.
- Ability to work quickly and calmly during live sport and breaking news.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across editorial, social, video and commercial priorities.
- Curiosity, creativity and a willingness to learn new platforms, tools and formats.
- Understanding of SEO and search audience behaviour, or willingness to develop this quickly.
What Success Looks Like
- SPORTbible is faster and sharper on the sports stories our audience cares about.
- More stories originate from the team’s own sourcing, pitching and original thinking.
- Social packaging improves traffic, engagement and referral performance.
- SPORTbible grows audience habits across more sports, not only football.
- The brand becomes stronger across multiple platforms and referrers, with content that feels distinctive, useful and worth coming back for.
