We are looking to expand our IT department with a Business Systems Analyst to help modernise how Lactalis UK and Ireland operates by improving systems, processes, and data flows. This role blends technical development with business analysis to deliver smarter, more scalable ways of working across the organisation. Based at our head office in Redhill, Surrey this role also requires occasional weekend work.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with teams across the business to understand processes, gather requirements, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and contribute to change initiatives—mapping workflows, highlighting inefficiencies, and proposing practical, modern solutions.
- Design and develop technical solutions using SQL, Python, PowerShell, and automation/integration tools.
- Build and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, data models, and datasets for reporting and project needs.
- Work with APIs, SFTP, and integration patterns to support system interfaces and data flows.
- Support BI and analytics by preparing SQL driven datasets and maintaining dashboards (e.g., Tableau).
- Apply data engineering principles when designing data pipelines, transformations, and structures.
- Contribute to solution design, especially around ERP processes and integrations.
- Create clear technical documentation and handover materials for support teams.
- Promote best practice development, including version control, testing, and peer review.
- Own tasks within projects and lead small workstreams as needed.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across IT, Operations, Finance, Logistics, and Groupe teams.
Key Requirements
- Strong development background—professionally or via personal projects.
- Advanced SQL skills (complex queries, stored procedures, optimisation).
- Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting.
- Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, SFTP, and data flow concepts.
- Awareness of data engineering (ETL, modelling, pipelines).
- Experience supporting BI/reporting using SQL and tools like Tableau.
- Familiarity with Git and structured development practices.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and fast learner of new technologies.
- Confident communicator able to explain technical topics clearly.
- Curious, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Qualified by experience, apprenticeship, or relevant education.
