Summary: The Business Change & Development Analyst is a hybrid technical and business-facing role responsible for designing, developing, and delivering improvements to systems, processes, and data flows across Lactalis UK. The role exists to modernise the way the business works through smart development, integration, automation, and effective change delivery.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work with business teams to understand processes, requirements, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to business change initiatives by gathering requirements, mapping processes, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing solutions.
- Challenge existing practices and champion modern, scalable approaches that improve efficiency and data quality.
- Develop small-to-medium technical solutions using SQL, scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell), and automation/integration tools.
- Build and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data models to support both project work and reporting needs.
- Work with APIs, SFTP, and integration patterns to build and support systems interfaces.
- Support reporting needs by preparing SQL-driven datasets and maintaining/modifying BI dashboards (e.g., Tableau) as required.
- Apply data engineering fundamentals when designing transformations, pipelines, and data structures.
- Contribute to solution design and system understanding, including ERP-related processes and application integrations.
- Create and maintain technical and architectural documentation, including knowledge articles for support handover.
- Adopt and promote best-practice development processes such as version control, testing, and peer review.
- Own tasks within wider projects and lead small workstreams or standalone pieces of development work when appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across IT, Operations, Finance, Logistics, and wider Groupe teams.
- Occasional weekend work and bank holiday work which is covered across the team on a rota basis.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable development background — either through professional experience or strong personal project portfolio.
- Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performing optimisation.
- Experience using scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Understanding of core integration concepts (REST APIs, JSON, SFTP, data flows).
- Awareness of data engineering principles (ETL, modelling, pipelines).
- Experience supporting BI/reporting requirements using SQL and tools such as Tableau.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and structured development practices.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Confident communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Curious, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative when appropriate.
- Qualified by experience, apprenticeship, or relevant education — no specific degree required.
- Comfortable working in legacy environments with a view to modernise.
- Experience with SSIS, automation/orchestration tools, or process automation.
- Awareness of EDI concepts (no deep specialist knowledge required).
- Experience working with ERP systems or large business applications.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts or software delivery pipelines.
