Role Description

The Licensed Conveyancer will manage a varied caseload of residential and, where applicable, commercial property transactions from instruction to completion.

Day‑to‑day tasks include handling sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and lease extensions, as well as drafting and reviewing contracts, title reports, and other conveyancing documentation.

The role involves liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, and other solicitors, ensuring clear communication, timely updates, and high‑quality client care.

The Licensed Conveyancer will also ensure compliance with regulatory and anti–money laundering requirements, maintain accurate file records, and contribute to process improvements within the conveyancing team.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in St Albans.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Conveyancer qualification (or equivalent, such as a Solicitor with substantial conveyancing experience) and a proven track record in residential property work.
  • Strong technical knowledge of conveyancing law and practice, including Land Registry procedures, leasehold and freehold issues, and mortgage lender requirements.
  • Excellent client care, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain legal matters clearly and manage client expectations.
  • Solid file management, time management, and organizational skills, including the ability to handle a busy caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and standard IT tools (e. g., Microsoft Office), and comfort working with digital files and workflows.
  • Attention to detail and risk awareness, with a commitment to regulatory compliance, data protection, and anti–money laundering procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, contribute to a positive office culture, and support colleagues when needed.
  • Experience working in a high‑quality, client‑focused private practice environment; local market knowledge of St Albans and surrounding areas is an advantage.
