Wash in & Shunter Operator – Fresh Produce

4 on, 4 off | Day shifts, 5:30am–6:15pm We're looking for a practical, experienced operator to join a busy fresh produce operation in Soham. Combining washing line operations with shunter duties, you'll play an important part in keeping production running smoothly, maintaining food safety and quality standards, and supporting the movement of goods around the site. If you're comfortable operating machinery, have a good understanding of production processes and enjoy a varied, hands-on role, we'd love to hear from you. The Role
Your responsibilities will include: Operating washing line machinery and carrying out pre-start checks at the beginning of each shift
Carrying out shunter duties to support the movement of goods around the site
Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards
Monitoring product quality to help minimise waste and ensure unsuitable produce doesn't progress to packing
Keeping machinery and equipment clean in line with cleaning procedures
Monitoring machinery performance and carrying out routine asset care tasks
Completing operational tasks using the NAV system
Supporting the training of new team members and completing their training records
Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene, housekeeping and food safety
Following health and safety procedures and reporting risks or issues to the Wash Team Leader
Carrying out other duties as required to support the wider production team
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who: Has experience operating washing machinery, grading equipment or similar production machinery
Has shunter driving experience or is confident carrying out shunting duties
Has good mechanical knowledge and an understanding of how machinery operates
Understands the importance of food safety, hygiene and quality standards
Is comfortable using computer systems, ideally with experience of NAV 365
Can follow procedures, complete checks accurately and maintain clear records
Takes health and safety seriously and looks out for colleagues
Is reliable, practical and happy working in a busy production environment
Previous experience in food manufacturing, agriculture or fresh produce would be an advantage. What's In It For You?
