We are hiring a Senior Product Design Engineer for an established industrial manufacturing operation in the Birmingham area. This is a hands‑on mechanical design role focused on developing complex, heavy‑duty equipment and fabricated products used in demanding industrial environments. The Senior Product Design Engineer will own projects from initial concept and customer requirements through detailed design, manufacturing drawings, engineering changes, and production release. This is an experienced‑level position for an engineer who understands not only how to design a product, but also how it will be fabricated, welded, machined, assembled, and used in the field. Responsibilities Lead mechanical design projects from initial concept through production release. Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings . Convert application requirements and technical specifications into practical, manufacturable designs. Design complex mechanical components, assemblies, and fabricated products for industrial applications. Apply GD Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD experience is preferred. Strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes . Working knowledge of GD equivalent technical education and relevant experience will also be considered.
