We’re hiring a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our custom fabrication shop. You’ll take ownership of our Press Brake and Plate Roll equipment, ensuring precision metal forming from the initial raw material check to the final adjustments. Your role involves calculating tonnage, reading detailed blueprints, fabricating jigs, and safely utilizing heavy machinery like overhead cranes and rigging equipment to maneuver stock. Compensation: $20 - $24 / hr

2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Friday: 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Calculate required tonnage and determine correct die openings for various metals. Make fine adjustments on the press brake until stock is formed to exact specifications.
  • Quality & Precision: Check size, thickness, and forming stock length of plates. Review drawings to determine bends and verify dimension correctness.
  • Forming & Fabrication: Layout and mark material for pressing. Fabricate custom jigs and templates. Check the formed radius of stock using templates, chords, and layout lines. Check metal edges for straightness and flatten if required.
  • Material Handling & Rigging: Safely rig and place stock in the press. Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other handling equipment to move heavy materials across the shop floor.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on the Press Brake and Plate Roll equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Shop Administration: Accurately complete all necessary shop paperwork and maintain clear identification of all formed stock pieces.

Qualifications Required:

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or at least 2 years of experience in a similar fabrication or press brake role.
  • Applied Math: Proven ability to calculate basic math problems, including tonnage calculations and die opening sizing for different metals.
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read, understand, and accurately interpret technical drawings and prints.
  • Metal Forming Knowledge: Solid understanding of metal press forming concepts and a commitment to meeting all forming tolerances.

Preferred:

  • Heavy Machinery Training: Documented safety training, crane operator training, and forklift training.
  • Advanced Fabrication Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in all forming, flattening, and straightening skills, as well as hands-on experience fabricating jigs and templates.
  • Rigging Expertise: Demonstrated practical experience in the safe and proper use of rigging and heavy material handling equipment.
