Laboris Solutions are working with a long standing client going through a stage of growth who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join the team and play a key role in the successful delivery and growth of the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator with a strong mechanical building services background who is looking to take ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive estimates and tenders across a range of mechanical projects.

Working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, project managers and the wider commercial team, you will ensure tenders are prepared to a high standard, submitted on time and provide the business with strong commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse tender documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical estimates and tenders.
  • Produce competitive quotations and ensure all costs are fully captured.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Carry out material, labour, plant and subcontractor take-offs.
  • Identify project risks, exclusions, opportunities and potential cost savings.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.
  • Work closely with the project and commercial teams to ensure a smooth handover of successful tenders.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and ensure tenders are submitted within agreed deadlines.
  • Assist with developing estimating processes and improving commercial performance.
  • Support junior estimators and contribute to the development of the wider estimating function.

About You

The successful candidate will have substantial experience within mechanical estimating and a strong understanding of mechanical building services and construction.

You will be commercially aware, highly organised and confident working independently while also being comfortable collaborating with a wider team.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator, Senior Estimator or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services.
  • Experience preparing tenders and detailed cost estimates.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and tender documents.
  • Strong understanding of labour, materials, subcontractor and plant costs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical ability.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
