Mechanical Project Engineer
South Oxfordshire (5 days onsite needed!)
£35-45,000
Laboris Solutions are recruiting a Mechanical Project Engineer for a client to lead the engineering and delivery of projects. This will be working on a variety of projects including support local government projects to project further afield in South America.
Within this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the engineering through the complete project lifecycle (from concept to commissioning).
- Determine work package breakdown and allocation.
- Curate and manage requirements and engineering specifications for, top system level definition, and sub-system work packages
- Ensure the successful delivery of engineering equipment from internal design teams and external suppliers to meet the project goals, and the scientific & business need
- Project management (including: planning; scheduling; setting and controlling budgets; project risk management; associated documentation and reporting).
About you
We are looking for someone with a confident understanding of the engineering design & delivery process, and a high competence in project management and technical leadership. The role requires a person with great interpersonal skills, particularly in communication, negotiating, networking and team building. Minimum 2/3 years of experience are required.
You will be skilled at solving engineering challenges with a methodical structured approach, and be able to draw upon a good knowledge of mechanical engineering design and manufacturing fundamentals.
We are looking for someone who will be passionate about delivering high quality solutions to meet the project objective.
Essential:
- Degree or HNC, or equivalent, plus experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Skilled in project management (responsible for time / cost / quality)
- Experience of managing technical recommendations and work from multi-disciplinary collaborators (S&I)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for technical and project leadership
Desirable:
- Demonstrated ability to work to procedures, and Industrial Standards & Regulations.
- Understanding of safe design, risk assessments, and risk mitigation.
- Experience of working with scientists or technical specialists to develop complex technical specifications.
- Experience of procuring engineering equipment
- Experience of designing engineering equipment
- Comprehensive understanding of materials and manufacturing.
- Industrial experience in engineering design using Computer Aided Design software.
