Overview

As Senior Technical Specialist at Labcorp Eye, Suffolk, you will lead method development for challenging chemicals and guide a technical team in physical chemical testing. You’ll work within the Physical Chemical Testing group to deliver validated results, review study documentation, and contribute to SOP maintenance and internal projects. This role combines hands-on analysis with training and mentoring to raise technical capability. Responsibilities

  • Lead method development activities for difficult-to-test chemicals
  • Train and supervise junior lab personnel with training plans
  • Review others’ work for accuracy and technical soundness
  • Set up and perform studies using instrumentation (routine and non-routine methods)
  • Support a broad portfolio of study types and processes
  • Critically review study documentation and suggest improvements
  • Participate in study meetings (e.g., pre-initiation)
  • Deliver results within agreed timeframes and adapt to priority changes
  • Write, review, and revise standard SOPs
  • Prepare results and presentations from work conducted
  • Participate in internal method development projects and act as department process owner
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, GLP, GMP (where applicable) and regulatory guidelines

Key requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry
  • Experience with standard Physical Chemistry equipment (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC-UV)
  • Provide technical advice and interpretation for study reports and staff training
  • Expertise in Physical Chemical Testing, OECD 100 series, CIPAC
  • Some experience in training team members
  • Proficiency with IT and Excel; strong numeracy
  • Organised and self-motivated; ability to use initiative
  • Strong knowledge of GLP
  • Mentoring and training skills
  • Attention to detail and critical review
