We’re looking for an organised, practical and proactive Stores Lead to establish and take ownership of a brand-new central stores function at our Stokesley HQ.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in stores, warehouse operations, stock control, manufacturing or engineering who wants to build something from the ground up.
You’ll be responsible for developing the stores area, establishing effective Goods In and Goods Out processes, improving stock control and creating the systems and procedures that will support the wider business as we grow.
- What You’ll Do
- Set up and develop a new central stores area, including the layout, storage locations, labelling and organisation.
- Take ownership of Goods In and Goods Out, receiving deliveries, checking quantities and condition, booking goods in and ensuring items reach the correct destination.
- Create and implement clear stores procedures, work instructions and processes.
- Introduce new stores processes across the business and support colleagues in adopting them.
- Coordinate the movement of parts, materials, parcels and equipment around the business.
- Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Projects and Product teams to resolve delivery and stock issues.
- Maintain accurate stock records and carry out stock checks, audits and stock rationalisation.
- Ensure all incoming and outgoing materials are accurately recorded, traceable and controlled.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce errors, prevent lost or misplaced materials and improve material flow.
- Maintain a safe, tidy and well‑organised stores environment.
- Help develop the stores function as the business grows, including supporting the recruitment and training of future team members.
- What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience in stores, warehouse, stock control, logistics, manufacturing or engineering.
- Good understanding of Goods In/Goods Out and stock control processes.
- Experience working with stock management, ERP systems, spreadsheets or similar digital systems.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to create, document and improve practical processes.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with different teams across a business.
- A practical approach to problem solving and the confidence to challenge inefficient processes.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively when urgent deliveries or materials are required.
- A hands‑on approach and willingness to get involved in the day‑to‑day running of the stores.
- Previous experience supervising colleagues or supporting a team would be advantageous.
- What You’ll Get
- 33 days' annual holiday, rising to 38 days over 5 years, including public holidays.
- Private Healthcare with Aviva.
- 5% employer pension with no upper earnings cap.
- Enhanced maternity pay (long service applicable).
- Enhanced paternity leave.
- CPD support and annual subscription to an appropriate professional body covered.
- Free in-house gym, squash court, bouldering wall and a range of clubs and activities.
- The opportunity to build and shape a new function within a growing engineering and automation business.
- A friendly, collaborative and genuinely different working environment.
Why Labman?
This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit an existing stores operation.
You'll have the opportunity to build the function from the ground up, decide how materials should flow through the business, introduce better processes and create a stores environment that can grow with Labman.
You'll have visibility across the business and work closely with teams including Engineering, Procurement, Finance and Projects.
If you're someone who enjoys taking ownership, creating order from complexity and finding better ways of doing things, we'd love to hear from you.
