About the Role
At Labman Automation, we design and build bespoke robotic systems that enable science through technology. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Learning & Development Lead to establish and drive our learning strategy across the business. This is a unique opportunity to build an L&D function from the ground up, creating the frameworks, pathways and programmes that help our people develop, while remaining hands-on in the delivery of training.
We already have a wealth of technical expertise and training resources across the business. What we're looking for is someone who can bring structure, consistency and vision to how we develop people at every stage of their career.
What you'll be doing
This role combines strategic leadership with practical delivery. You'll work with teams across the business to identify development needs, create learning pathways and implement an L&D strategy that supports our continued growth. Around 25% of your time will be spent delivering training yourself. You'll create engaging workshops, leadership programmes and professional skills training, facilitate sessions with employees at all levels of the business, and help build a culture where learning is valued, enjoyable and impactful. Whether it's coaching managers, running communication workshops, developing future leaders or introducing new learning initiatives, you'll be at the centre of making it happen.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience developing and implementing L&D strategies within a growing organisation.
- Enjoys creating structure and building new processes from the ground up.
- Is a confident facilitator who genuinely enjoys presenting and leading training sessions.
- Can design engaging learning experiences and deliver them with energy and credibility.
- Understands how to balance technical development with leadership and professional skills training.
- Is pragmatic, creative and comfortable working in a collaborative, high growth, non-corporate environment.
- Can influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across a wide range of teams.
Why this role is different
You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of learning at Labman while staying closely connected to the people you're supporting. If you enjoy creating training programmes, organising development initiatives and then stepping into the room to bring them to life, this is the role for you. You'll have the freedom to build something meaningful, the support to make it happen, and the chance to make a visible impact across a growing technology business.
Company Benefits:
- 33 days annual holiday (rising to 38 over 5 years) inc. public holidays
- Private Healthcare with Aviva
- 5% employer pension (no upper earnings cap)
- Travel opportunities in various roles
- Enhanced maternity pay (long service applicable)
- Enhanced paternity leave
- CPD support and annual subscription to appropriate body covered
- Free in-house gym, squash, bouldering wall, and countless clubs
