Entry Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above
  • Essential: Maths and English
  • Beneficial subjects: ICT, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
  • 3 A Levels or equivalent (all grades must be documented on your CV)

What You’ll Do

As a School/College Leaver Software Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers on real-world automation and software projects. You’ll learn by doing, gradually building confidence and responsibility as your skills grow. You will:

  • Learn hands-on software engineering skills, including coding, debugging, and system design
  • Support the development of software used to control robotic and automated lab systems
  • Assist with testing, maintaining, and improving existing software solutions
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of software, electrical, and mechanical engineers
  • Develop strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills to kick-start your career
