We are seeking a commercially minded Global Sales Manager to join our fast-growing organisation. The Global Sales Manager will be accountable for the management, performance, and development of the sales team (across the UK, USA, France, and Germany), operating within the strategic direction set by the Sales Directors. This role is designed to provide structure, consistency, and people leadership to the global sales function, enabling the Sales Directors to focus on commercial strategy, growth, and key relationships. The role will involve both domestic and international travel. When not travelling, the position will be based at our headquarters in Sheffield, UK.
Responsibilities
- Sales Performance, KPI Monitoring & Planning: Set clear expectations for sales team members and ensure adherence to performance standards while supporting the development of structured sales plans and activities. Monitor and review sales targets and KPIs, including pipeline activity and customer engagement, to track performance and inform strategy. Ensure each salesperson establishes annual objectives in addition to financial targets to support strategic growth and development.
- Coaching, Mentoring, Training & Team Support: Provide day-to-day support to the sales team, including regular one-to-ones, performance feedback and guidance. Accompany customer visits and support team development through training initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Sales Process & CRM Management: Ensure consistent and effective CRM usage including accurate logging of opportunities, consistent quotation processes, activity logging and follow-ups. Ensure incoming enquiries are dealt with promptly while maintaining high standards of customer engagement and process consistency.
- Sales Team Organisation & Communication: Strengthen team structure through regular meetings, clear agendas and effective communication across regions. Prepare reports and updates for management while encouraging knowledge sharing and ensuring consistent execution of sales strategy.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience in a B2B sales management or leadership role with experience developing and implementing processes and procedures (at least 5 years).
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage priorities and drive execution.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to consider wider organisational impact and collaborate effectively with senior leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across strong personalities and international teams.
- Ability to motivate teams, conduct performance appraisals and confidently manage difficult conversations and performance challenges.
- Confidence in managing and holding accountable strong sales personalities using clear expectations, data and follow-up.
- Proactive, self-driven approach with high emotional intelligence and adaptability.
- Proven experience overseeing a field sales team.
Desirable:
- Experience monitoring and reviewing sales targets and KPIs.
- Experience in a technical, scientific or highly regulated environment.
- Degree in a scientific or medical field.
- Experience in an international sales environment.
