At LabGenius, our mission is to accelerate the discovery of next-generation therapeutic antibodies. To do this, we’ve pioneered the development of EVA™ – a smart robotic platform that’s capable of designing, conducting and, critically, learning from its own experiments. For our wholly-owned pipeline, we’re using our closed-loop discovery engine to establish a pipeline of highly selective T-cell engagers and ADCs for the treatment of solid tumours.
LabGenius has raised >£58M and is backed by top-tier investors, including M Ventures, Octopus Ventures, LG Corp, Atomico, Kindred Capital, Lux Capital and Obvious Ventures amongst others. The company is headquartered in London (UK) where we’ve established a state-of-the-art antibody engineering facility. The company is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of more than 50 scientists and engineers.
At LabGenius Therapeutics, we’re building a platform to discover revolutionary medicines using machine learning. We have exciting growth plans for the next 18 months and are looking for an experienced and passionate Phage Display Scientist to join us on our mission as we combine Machine Learning (ML), robotic automation and synthetic biology to evolve next-generation protein therapeutics.
As a Scientist at LabGenius Therapeutics, you will support our pipeline by conducting our lead discovery campaigns with minimal supervision. You will be experienced in phage display and antibody discovery, with a track record of delivering candidates for more in-depth characterisation. You will be knowledgeable and have hands-on experience in different molecular biology methods. Our Antibody discovery team works at the interface with the functional assay and data science departments, hence you will enjoy working in a dynamic and creative environment, where a positive attitude and a great passion for science are highly valued.
With an endless hunger for knowledge, learning, and growth, you will be contributing work that will positively impact humanity and fundamentally change scientific discovery forever!
What you’ll do in this role:
- You will be responsible for planning and performing phage display selections with minimal supervision (against recombinant protein and target expressing cells) to support lead discovery campaigns.
- You will have a good understanding and hands-on experience of standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, restriction and ligation, Golden Gate and Gibson assembly.
- You will keep a high-quality notebook to guarantee data integrity and traceability.
- You will analyse and interpret data independently and discuss with team members and other functions in the company.
- You will present data in team and project meetings in a clear and concise manner with recommendations on next steps.
- You will collaborate with all the other functions to bring projects forward.
What we’re looking for:
- PhD or BSc/MSc with relevant industrial experience (1-3 years).
- Experience with phage display or other display technology.
- Good understanding and experience of different molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA purification, standard restriction and ligation, Golden Gate, Gibson assembly).
- Experience with ELN/LIMS systems.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Team player attitude, proactive and able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
- Willingness to continuously learn and grow.
- Ability to work to high standards with high attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting and interface with different groups (NGS, Molecular Biology, Automation, Functional assay, Data Science).
What you’ll receive from us:
- Discretionary performance-linked annual bonus.
- A generous stock option plan.
- 3x Salary Life Insurance with YuLife.
- Health Shield Cash Back Plan on day-to-day health expenses.
- 5% pension, with an additional top up on tax savings from us.
- Free Will-writing Service.
- Private Medical Insurance, including dental and optical (currently with AXA).
- Discounted gym membership through AXA and HealthShield.
- 24/7 access to GP Services.
- Access to the Cycle to Work scheme: to make your commute cheaper, healthier and a whole lot greener.
- Easy access to the on-site gym and climbing wall.
- 25 days annual leave (plus the bank holidays).
- Up to 20 days paid sick leave (including mental health days - no questions asked).
- 3 days paid emergency leave so it doesn’t eat into your relaxation time.
- 1 week paid bereavement leave plus 1 day to attend a funeral.
- 1 day paid for moving home.
Wellbeing:
- Employee Assistance Programme including access to coaching and CBT sessions.
Team-building:
- Weekly team lunches through Feedr.
- A programme of social events both company-wide and within your own teams.
