Brentwood Borough Council is offering a full-time position with a salary of £42,700 - £47,156 per annum, Grade H (SCP 37 - 41), and a market supplement of £8,000 per annum (to be reviewed after 12 months).

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified Building Control professional to join our supportive, modern, customer-focused team, ensuring buildings are compliant and safe for residents and visitors of the Borough.

You will join our proactive Building Control team, which has been involved in exciting developments and has several projects to engage with, including large housing developments and commercial projects across the borough. You will manage and progress a broad range of building control projects to effective completion and help grow our business by establishing and strengthening working relationships with architects, developers, and other clients.

Brentwood is a thriving borough of 75,000 residents, located in the Green Belt, boasting busy high streets, picturesque villages, spacious parks with cycle and walking trails, outstanding schools, and year-round cultural events. With excellent road and rail connections, Brentwood is a great base for getting into central London or exploring the East of England. Stansted, Southend, and London City Airports are only 30 minutes away for residents looking to travel further afield.

Responsibilities:

  • Substantial and relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Membership of an appropriate body including RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
  • Good customer service skills to establish and maintain productive business relationships.
  • Registered building inspector with the Building Safety Regulator, minimum class 2 category A.

Please note - starting salary is dependent upon skills and qualifications, with progression subject to satisfactory performance.
