About The Role

The Country Club Manager will have overall responsibility for the management and the day-to-day operation of the Country Club while contributing to the overall achievement of business goals; ensuring consistent standards of service are maintained. The Country Club Manager will contribute to the profitability of the business through the management of the team and maintaining effective cost control. They will create an environment where the team are motivated and encouraged to maximise sales and revenue.

The Country Club Manager will oversee all Club operations, which include a cardio room, free weights room, studio, indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and 1 tennis court, to ensure the overall economic and service goals for the Hotel are delivered consistently at all times. The Country Club Manager will develop the Club into a busy environment and the Club of choice in the local area, whilst maintaining a welcoming environment for the hotel residents.

Qualifications And Skills Required

  • Candidates will have experience of working at a similar level within a similar operation and will have a good working knowledge of a Hotel Leisure Club.
  • This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership skills where you will need to be confident in meeting customer/guest expectations and managing a team of staff.
  • You will preferably be qualified to Level 2 fitness, or similar, and experience of training staff would also be advantageous to the Hotel.
  • If you can deliver customer service to a high standard, communicate effectively with clients and colleagues and have exceptional attention to detail, then we would like you to join our team.
  • This is a shift-based role, working 40 hours per week, including early starts, late finishes and weekends.
  • You will be required to take fitness classes.

Duties Of The Post

  • Effective day-to-day operation of the Country Club.
  • Deliver an excellent guest experience and customer service.
  • Maximise membership and retail sales.
  • Stock control, stock ordering and monthly stock-taking in line with Company requirements.
  • Staff scheduling in line with business levels.
  • Develop a pro-active sales culture amongst all members of the team within the Country Club & Spa.
  • Training and development of the team to deliver a sales-led and guest-satisfaction culture.
  • Develop the Club's class timetable and build on the classes available to benefit members.
  • Achieving Club targets & KPI’s.
  • To attend Management Meetings as required, including weekly HOD meeting.
  • Proven ability to manage a small, varied team, preferably within a similar environment.
  • Sales-oriented with a proven track record, preferably within a similar environment.
  • Prepared to be a hands-on manager and multi-task when needed.
  • A good understanding of how to plan and organise work and staff efficiently to overcome the varying peaks and troughs of demand.
  • Experience of implementing and monitoring health and safety at work legislation in line with company policies and procedures.
  • A good understanding of the regulations and legislation concerning the operation of leisure facilities.
  • A self-motivated work ethic and a positive outlook on life.
  • The flexibility to work a variety of shifts during the daytime, evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and to deal with customer feedback and complaints.
  • A high standard of personal presentation, integrity and attention to detail and be highly organised.
  • Day-to-day pool plant management.
  • Ensures staff are trained on all brand standard operating procedures.
  • To carry out regular checks to ensure all club equipment is in good condition and receives regular maintenance (e.g., gym equipment, pool plant equipment, spa treatment equipment).
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the club and related areas and equipment.
  • Determines guests' needs and strives to meet these needs.
  • Pool Plant Operators and Pool responder certification would be preferable, but training would be given to the successful candidate.
  • To liaise with all departments in the Hotel about any issues, events, activities and news within the Country Club and always ensure clear communication.
  • To ensure the safe keeping and storage of hotel-owned or hired equipment.
  • To hold at least one performance appraisal per year with all Country Club staff, identifying areas of strong performance, development and training needs.
  • To ensure the team are knowledgeable about the facilities and products within the Hotel and are proactive in the sale of these to guests.
  • To ensure accurate and timely submission of all reports and administrative work including management of rotas for staff, and risk assessments.
  • To manage the holiday process for the Country Club team ensuring that holidays are taken so as not to affect demand.
  • To ensure that company Health, Safety and legal requirements are maintained in all areas.
  • To take responsibility for own personal development by attending training sessions and meetings when required and to operate in line with the training or information received.
  • To monitor trends within the industry and make suggestions on how these could be implemented.
  • Liaise with the Marketing Manager for content for social media, onsite & off-site marketing.
  • Manage Country Club's social media platform, including replying to messages.
  • To undertake any reasonable duty as requested by the Directors or their designate.
