The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role will predominantly focus on Accounts Payable, while also supporting wider finance functions. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to broaden their accounting experience. You will play a key role in ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and that supplier relationships are managed professionally and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process and maintain all transactional accounting entries.
- Review and post supplier invoices, matching against receipted stock and purchase orders.
- Monitor and follow up on returned goods, ensuring credit notes are received in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing weekly payment runs.
- Resolve accounts payable queries promptly and professionally.
- Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations.
- Process and review employee expense claims.
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register.
- Complete bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly prepayment reconciliations and journals.
- Support with bi‑monthly VAT submissions and monthly Intrastat returns.
- To keep the SADs documents updated to send to accountants.
- Monitor credit insurance limits.
- Assist with customer debt chasing where required.
- Undertake ad‑hoc finance tasks to support the wider team.
About You
- Proven experience in an Accounts Payable or general accounts administration role.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and accounting software packages.
- Experience with Microsoft Navision (desirable but not essential).
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage queries effectively.
- Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner.
- AAT qualification (or studying towards) desirable.
- A positive team player who can also work independently and manage their workload.
