Network & Security L2 Administrator

6 Month contract initially

Based: Onsite – West Drayton

Rate: £400 – £425 p/d (via Umbrella company)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of OSI layers 1-7, with the ability to apply analytical and troubleshooting skill sets to solve complex problems across all networking disciplines.
  2. Monitor the performance and capability of the network using diversified tools. Identify malfunctioning hardware, software, and alert events.
  3. Triage or troubleshoot issues & incidents within the defined areas. Follow Standard Operating Manuals and coordinate with third-party vendors, customer contacts, or other IT teams to implement solutions and resolutions.
  4. Develop strong relationships with the customer and support departments.
  5. Support Cisco WLAN Controllers, SSID, and Access Points.
  6. Implement and troubleshoot Firewalls, Security, VPNs, NAT policies, and perform Software Patch management.
  7. Configure and troubleshoot routing & switching protocols like OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VLANs, STPs, VRF, MC-LAG, FHRP, DMVPN, NAT Policy.
  8. Support enterprise routers and switches, understanding LAN, WAN, and SDWAN concepts (including wireless LAN).
  9. Implement and troubleshoot DNS, IPAM, DHCP for IP management.
  10. Manage F5 LTM, SSL Certificates, create iRules, and perform software upgrades & patches.
  11. Analyze network data to identify potential issues proactively.
  12. Test & implement software patches and firmware updates for network & security devices.
  13. Coordinate with vendors or suppliers, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
  14. Manage major/high severity incidents and vendor relationships.

  1. Routing & Switching (Cisco/Juniper) – DC
  2. DC-Core Network Protocols BGP/OSPF
  3. Checkpoint Firewall, VPN concepts
  4. Cisco Wireless & SD WAN
  5. F5 LTM
  6. DNS/DHCP, IPAM
  7. Certifications: CCNP, CCSA, F5
  8. Additional Skills (Good to Have):
  • Cisco Meraki
  • AWS Networking
  • Cisco ISE & Security
  • NMS tools like BIG IQ, SolarWinds, CA Spectrum, ThousandEyes, NetBrain, Firewall Monitoring Tools (Checkpoint)
