We have a new requirement for a Platform Security Engineer to work for a client of ours. This role is Outside IR35 and requires an active SC level security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Help stand up a new AWS platform and developer portal with security embedded by default using reusable GitLab pipelines, policy-as-code guardrails, and automated evidence/continuous compliance.
  • Strengthen cloud security operations by improving telemetry of a Splunk‑backed SOC, reducing manual security ticketing and lead times via self‑service patterns.
  • Work with tooling such as Wiz CNAPP and modern cloud security scanning/assurance tools to meet security requirements.
  • Produce compliance evidence outputs (dashboards, scorecards, audit‑ready artefacts, policy evaluation outputs) automatically.
  • Instrument AWS logging (CloudTrail, Config, VPC flow logs, etc.) and integrate into Splunk (forwarders, HEC, data models).
  • Align with SOC operational needs (alert quality, use cases, tuning).
  • Use strong AWS IAM, policy guardrails (SCPs), and policy engines or guardrail frameworks.
  • Deliver hands‑on work and define a pragmatic operating model (lightweight RACI, ways of working).
  • Streamline onboarding via standard docs/runbooks, automated access workflows, pre‑approved patterns, and golden‑path templates.

Qualifications

  • SC cleared Platform Security Engineer with experience in AWS.
  • Experience instrumenting AWS logging and integrating with Splunk.
  • Knowledge of SOC operational requirements and alert tuning.
  • Familiarity with policy‑guardrails (SCPs) and policy engines/frameworks.
