Racking Technician

We're looking for an experienced Racking Technician to join our Technical Services team.

This is a hands-on role involving the installation of IT equipment into customer racks, including servers, storage and networking equipment.

You'll be responsible for racking and stacking hardware, fitting and dressing cabling, applying asset labels, and preparing integrated solutions for shipment.

The role involves regular manual handling, use of lifting equipment, and working to tight customer deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rack and stack IT equipment into customer racks and cabinets.
  • Install, route and secure power and data cabling.
  • Read and follow rack elevation diagrams and build documentation.
  • Apply asset and customer labels accurately.
  • Carry out basic equipment checks and inspections.
  • Move and position equipment safely using approved handling methods.
  • Prepare completed rack solutions for shipment.
  • Maintain accurate installation and asset records.
  • Follow all health & safety and manual handling procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven rack and stack experience.
  • Experience installing IT hardware into racks and cabinets.
  • Experience working with cabling.
  • Ability to read and follow rack elevation diagrams.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving IT equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamworking skills.
