I'm supporting a consultancy that's growing its Azure capability and looking for a Senior Azure Database Engineer to join a major cloud transformation programme.
This role would suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into complex SQL Server environments, figuring out how everything hangs together, and then helping organisations successfully move and modernise their database platforms in Azure.
You'll be joining a team of architects and engineers working on large-scale migration projects, where you'll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, solve challenging problems and help shape modern cloud-based solutions.
The Role
- Assessing existing SQL Server estates and understanding dependencies
- Planning and delivering SQL Server and Azure SQL migrations
- Supporting schema, data and platform migrations
- Troubleshooting and optimising performance issues
- Working with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Contributing to automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives
- Collaborating with technical teams to overcome migration and integration challenges
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on SQL Server and Azure SQL experience
- Experience delivering database migration projects in Azure
- Solid T-SQL skills and understanding of database performance tuning
- Experience with Azure DevOps and automated deployments
- Knowledge of Terraform, Bicep or similar IaC tooling
- Someone who enjoys solving problems and working closely with technical stakeholders
- PowerShell or Python scripting
- Experience in secure or regulated environments
- Microsoft Azure or SQL certifications
